Fund a PhD in Biomechanics, "Optimization of Peripheral Nerve Repair and Regeneration"
A Biological & Medical Sciences, Engineering project
I am Orthopedic surgeon with special interests in hand surgery, I strongly think basic sciences hold the solution for some health mayor concerns. The traumatic injury of peripheral nerves is an impairing lesion with poor clinical outcomes. Nowadays different approaches are evolving to improve nerve repair and regeneration. Thru this project I want to involve myself in this complex and passioning task. I have already a partial fund from a colombian organisation named “Colfuturo”. I have a partial fund of 25000 dollars, I am looking for 25000 more in order to live in France for three years.

What is your motivation for doing a PhD?
Why did you choose your research topic/title
I am an orthopedic surgeon from Colombia. I have studied medicine in A public University "Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira". I pursued a Master degree in Physical Instrumentation in the same University. Thereafter I started the residency in orthopedic surgery in Bogotá at the "Universidad del Rosario". Then I moved to Strasbourg to start an observership in Hand Surgery meanwhile I was preparing a course of Microsurgery at University of Strasbourg.
What difference will this research make in your life and the lives of others?
My research biggest goal is to improve nerve repair and regeneration. I am focused in neural guides. Neural guides are little tubes of different materials that are implanted to link the two stumps of the nerve defect in order to guide regrowth of neural tissue. I will focus in the mechanic properties of this guides. Do no t hesitate to contact me. I will be improving my PhD campaign. Thank you
