medical practice in the Neolithic period (2000-4000 BC)

Sex,
Drugs, Rot and Roll: An investigation into Neolithic Doctoring practices via
visual and chemical analysis.

Using the skeletal material excavated from Stonehenge currently housed at Salisbury Museum, to assertain whether the site was more an early hospital than just a place of ritual,” a site of ritual and healing”

What is your motivation for doing a PhD?

to become a lecturer and complete research in chemical analysis on ancient remains.

Why did you choose your research topic/title

I have been researching this title for 5 years, it has taken hard work and dedication and is a fascinating area of study where little is known and no research has been done before, this will be the first of its kind concerning Stonehenge.

Your achievments

I self funded my first College course in forensics back in 2004, I went on to do a degree and masters in archaeology and anthropology, again all self funded. I worked part time to support my young family, and that was hard work as a single mother. I put in the hours and dedication needed to complete my studies and I have also just finished a PGCE to help me on my way to lecture, the final stage is the PHD, which I have been saving for 3 years to start. My proposal has been accepted and my supervisors selected, but this is expensive and I need help to fund the project. I am dedicated and a hard worker, I have never applied for any funding before, and I am hoping that others help me to realize my dream. I am an academic scholar student, which I gained at College the only one Bournemouth University had in 2006.

What difference will this research make in your life and the lives of others?

This research will allow new perspectives in the analysis for both forensic work and archaeology. Being able to detect simple chemical compounds in skeletal material will allow cause of death to be better established, currently only soft tissue is analysed. it will help to determine the use of Stonehenge in a more definitive way.

Project Update #3: Sex, drugs rot "n" roll

Is it me or does nobody get any funding on this site. Mine is from my family alone it seems as rho our projects don’t get attention elsewhere. I don’t think this site is actively doing enough for there fees !!!

Project Update #2: Sex, drugs rot "n" roll

Please please keep donating

Project Update #1: Sex, drugs rot "n" roll

Thank you so much for the support so far it’s much appriciated. There still so far to go but every little helps. Please do donate to fund this very exciting new research will benefit forensics and archaeology alike for many years to come.
